What are some dietary sources of mega-3 fatty acids?

The active ingredients in fish oil are the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Rich dietary sources of these omega-3 fatty acids are cold-water, marine fish including sardines, anchovies, cod, tuna, salmon, halibut, mackerel and herring. Certain types of shellfish such as shrimp also contain a moderate amount of omega-3 fatty acids.

Where does your fish oil come from and what are the quality standards of your fish oil products?

At Dr. Harmony, we don’t use oil from large Salmon because it can easily contain a high level of lead, mercury and other toxins. You see, the Salmon can grow to be a pretty big fish. It’s a predator fish, high up on the food chain, meaning that it contains toxins absorbed by every small fish, crab, eel, and water bug it has ever eaten.

If you want the purest fish oil, you have to avoid big, old fish like large Salmon and Swordfish. You have to do a lot more work and catch lots of small younger fish… fish that aren’t big or old enough to have accumulated many toxins.

Even the FDA has put out a cautionary advisory for expectant women and infants on big fish. Once again, it states, “Do not eat Swordfish, King Mackerel, Tilefish, Shark. They contain high levels of mercury.” We believe what’s good advice for expectant mothers and children is good advice for adults too.

Dr. Harmony’s Super Omega gives you the purest fish oil in the world. To make it, we go thousands of miles out of our way and get exquisitely clean, very small school fish from the extremely remote waters south of New Zealand. This is in the southwest Pacific Ocean, along the junction between the Pacific and Australian tectonic plates.

The water around here is almost completely untouched by human civilization. This is NOT like the industrial waters of the Atlantic from where most of the other fish oil manufactures get their fish.

Then to make doubly sure the fish oil doesn’t contain any contaminants and meets our purity standards we perform Molecular Distillation.

Molecular distillation removes impurities, such as heavy metals, dioxins, and other pollutants found in the oceans around the world.

The process can also remove unwanted saturated fats, and other undesirable organic compounds. Molecular distillation is a gentle process using low heat and can be performed in a vacuum to further reduce heat requirement. Any potential impurities and saturated fats are distilled out of the oil, leaving only the key health beneficial components of the fish oil.
